The Burnsville Metric - General Information

Held annually on the last Saturday in April, the Burnsville Metric is a great way to start off your cycling season.  It is casual but well-supported and comprises some of the flattest, most scenic roads in Yancey and Mitchell counties.

There is still a small portion of road construction to be aware of just after the third rest stop. The affected section of US-19E is between NC-80 North & NC-80 South, and impacts less than 2 miles of the Metric route. Please be extra cautious in this area. We will have extra signage there to increase driver awareness.

Details:

60.7 miles; 3 well-supplied rest stops & roving SAG support
New this year: a 43 mile option with one rest stop and our ever-helpful SAG support. To see a map of the shorter route, click here.
